Adetayo Akinsanya
unkletayo • Software Engineer • Systems & Craft
I like taking things apart to see how they work—whether that's a software system, a film score, or why a specific line in a book stays with you for years.
Peeling Back the Layers
My engineering curiosity naturally leans toward how large systems stay standing under load—whether that's understanding high-concurrency database engine internals, low-level browser rendering loops, or distributed event streams.
Modern software hides most of its complexity behind clean interfaces and package managers. My favorite moments in engineering happen when you pull back those abstractions: when you stop asking "how do I use this library?" and start asking "why was it designed this way?"
Work & Professional Experience
Companies & engineering roles:
Frontend Engineer (Backend & AI Transition)
@ Moniepoint GroupPrimary frontend engineer building merchant revenue platforms and enterprise CRM products, while occasionally working on backend Java/Spring Boot services and transitioning toward backend systems and AI engineering.
- Ship frontend CRM platforms and sales tools used by field teams to onboard merchants and drive direct business revenue.
- Contribute to backend Java & Spring Boot microservices while expanding knowledge in system design, data structures & algorithms, and AI primitives.
Frontend Engineer
@ ProphiusEngineered core merchant payment dashboards, settlement interfaces, and automated transaction resolution systems.
- Optimized API integration and state management layers, reducing dashboard load time by 40%.
- Developed key components of the payout dashboard processing daily transactions with 99.9% accuracy.
- Built frontend transaction reconciliation engine, reducing daily merchant reconciliation time from hours to minutes.
- Implemented automated dispute management system improving resolution speed by 50% across 200+ monthly cases.
Frontend Engineer
@ PayercoinsArchitected crypto payment interfaces and REST API client integrations using React.js and modern web standards.
Frontend Engineer
@ PHPSandboxDeveloped interactive web development sandbox features using TypeScript and REST API workflows.
Frontend Engineer
@ QuabblyBuilt web application interfaces and data-driven workflow automation tools.
Featured Projects & Systems
Selected engineering implementations:
unkletayo.dev Platform
An ongoing collection of technical essays, architecture notes, and open-access research built with Astro, Brittany Chiang design primitives, and automated release pipelines.
Transactional In-Memory Data Store
A custom concurrent key-value store built in Java featuring snapshot isolation, WAL durability, and lock-free memory indexing.
B+ Tree Storage Engine
A disk-backed page-managed storage engine implementing slotted-page records, B+ Tree node splitting, and buffer pool caching.
Perspective & Principles
Understanding Over Consumption
Frameworks and abstractions make it easy to ship code without understanding how things work underneath. I enjoy reading about how software systems are built from first principles and learning how the pieces fit together.
Craft & Detail
Care shows in the quiet details: crisp typography, tight error handling, fast load times, and code written for humans to read six months later.
Curiosity Without Boundaries
The impulse to understand why things work doesn't stop at code. It applies to cinema, music, spiritual sermons, literature, and how people interact with technology.
Curiosities & Obsessions
What I spend my time exploring:
Reading technical articles, backend architecture, and understanding how software systems work under the hood.
Building lightning-fast web applications, browser mechanics, state machines, and web performance efficiency.
Watching movies, compelling storytelling, atmospheric sound design, and great cinema.
Reading broadly—from self-help and fiction to technical articles, essays, and anything good and well-written.
Watching football and following my favorite clubs: Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Sporting Lagos.
Listening to deep spiritual sermons and worship music—especially Minister Theophilus Sunday whose prayer chants stay on repeat.
